Interview #16 with Doug Simpson

Good morning, bloggers! Today’s featured guest is a very talented writer –Doug Simpson. He is known for his works of history and religion and in his latest novel he has some surprises for you. He has received wonderful 5 Star Reviews for The Soul of Jesus (in such a short time, might I add), including “Enlightening Read” and “Eye Opening Novel”. So what are you waiting for??? 🙂  Read on and enjoy!

1) How did you become an author?

After I retired as a high school teacher I discovered that I had too much time on my hands. I had always wanted to be a writer but never managed to produce much that was worth publishing. Many years earlier, thanks to my wife, I was introduced to the possibility of survival of souls after the death of bodies, and reincarnation of souls, so, with time on my hands, I decided to read and research this interesting possibility and before too long I was convinced that it was true. I first produced a manuscript that was actually the initial version of The Soul of Jesus and embarked upon a journey to try and find a publisher. I was just another Joe Nobody in the world of publishing and rejections were the sales item of the day. Realizing I needed to achieve a writing resume, I worked at writing articles primarily involving reincarnation and was pleasantly shocked that people actually considered them worth publishing. That was certainly a nice change.

Encouraged by the success of my articles, I embarked upon the challenge of writing a novel involving reincarnation, as that was now my driving force. Good fortune was once again on my side and I found a small publisher willing to publish my first novel, Soul Awakening. I was now an author. Sometimes I had to pinch myself to make sure it was not a dream, but sure enough, I was really an author.

2) What inspires your writing?

As corny as it may sound, I strive to enlighten readers concerning things I believe to be true and supply them with my ‘evidence’ and then let them draw their own conclusions. We all have learned much from books, magazines, newspapers and computers.

3) Please tell the readers about your latest work, The Soul of Jesus (just published on February 6th).

As part of His preparations for the long-prophesied birth of our Savior, God selected a devout group of primarily Jewish Essenes to oversee this monumental undertaking. The Soul of Jesus delves into numerous details surrounding these readily-available but little-known preparations which preceded the birth of Jesus, and then carries on to share delightful snippets concerning the birth and life of Jesus before the commencing of His Ministry, Jesus’ Healings and other Miracles, His Apostles, relatives, friends and the group of seventy disciples, the Crucifixion and Resurrection, His activities after the Resurrection, and Jesus’ Ascension, that are not recorded in the Scriptures.

The surprises do not stop there. The Soul of Jesus saves the block-buster news until the very end – the soul of Jesus had a number of historical incarnations before its final incarnation, commencing many centuries back in time as the soul of Adam in the Garden of Eden.

4) What do you hope readers gain from this non-fiction book?

There is factual information available, from the time of Jesus, that, for probably a number of reasons, is not printed in the Bible. Some people believe that if it is not included in the Bible, then it cannot be true, but much information has surfaced from the time of Jesus, since the Bible was created or last updated.

5) What do you think makes you standout from other authors?

I attempt to write about topics which most other authors tend to avoid. That may not make my work better, but certainly different.

6) What part of the writing process do you find most exhilarating?

That is not a simple question, or maybe that should say answer. I love to hear people say they enjoyed my work, but from the writing point of view, I get the most exhilarated when an article or chapter turns out better than I imagined it would when I commenced to write it.

7) What can we see from you in future projects?

I will continue to publish reincarnation articles and I am working on my next novel titled Abandoned Soul, Book V of The Dacque Chronicles.

8) What advice would you give to an aspiring writer?

Believe in yourself! Do not let others discourage you and drive you to abandon your goals. View criticism and rejections as learning opportunities. Just because your work is not good enough to be published at the present time, that does not mean it will never be, down the road. You are only defeated when you give up!

9) Aside from writing, what are your passions in life?

Researching reincarnation and my family would be the top two, I would say.

10) Is there anything else you would like to add for our readers?
