I am so delighted to be featured here on my journey as a very grateful Rave Reviews Book Club “SPOTLIGHT” AUTHOR Blog Tour Participant.

A Character Interview with FBI Special Agent, Mike Matheson.

Q. Thanks for joining me, Special Agent Matheson. You haven’t given an interview of this nature before. Why did you consent to this one?

A. The Director, strongly recommended I do this Miss Clarke. He was quite insistent.

Q. So if this were a criminal trial you’d be viewed as a hostile witness? Would you agree?

A. I don’t have the damned luxury of time to waste here. What good will this do? Are you planning on finding me my killers, Miss Clarke?

Q. Surely, the publicity can’t hurt, Agent Matheson. Perhaps someone will recall something, something small, perhaps only significant to you and your team. That is possible don’t you agree?

A. Possible? That’s the only reason I’m still sitting here. Of course, it’s possible. But, probable? I doubt it. We have followed up thousands of possible leads since the ‘Countdown Murders’ began, Miss Clarke. None of them, and I do mean NONE of them panned out.”

Q. Describe the case if you will.”

A. We have eighteen dead men, all of them tortured before death. I’ve seen many corpses in my career, but never anything remotely like these.

Q. Why was only the first image of the victims made public, Agent Matheson?

A. The second images will live in my teams’ nightmares for the rest of our lives, Miss Clarke. They were deemed, unfit for public viewing.

Q. I see. Let’s move on, if I may. What do all the victims have in common, anything you can share?”

A. They are all very dead, Miss Clarke. That is the ultimate common denominator. We have deliberately withheld much of the detail. We must be able to clearly identify the perpetrator if we detain them. Only the real killer will know the explicit details.

Q “What can you share?”

A. I can and will share physicality and shared vicinity. Let me check them off for you.

1. All the deceased are male. 2. They vary in age between twenty and thirty years of age, with twenty-eight being the best median range. 3. They were all well-built and athletic at the time of death.

4. The bodies were all found on the outskirts of small towns.

5. We can find no record of them existing anywhere until shortly before their brutal deaths. These people simply didn’t exist. No social security, no IRS records, no birth records, no school details, nothing! They all appeared to have come into existence only in the years immediately preceding their murders.

Q. How is that even possible?

A. It would have taken a great deal of money, and influence, to create entirely new persona’s as appears to be the situation we have here.

Q. Could they have been operatives working for another agency?

A. That has been investigated, and discounted.

Q. Why is that, Agent Matheson?

A. I will not discuss matters of National Security here.

Q So that’s a possible yes, Agent Matheson?

A. This interview is over.

Q. I have more questions.

A. Fine. Ask the Director.

Mike Matheson stood, and with a curt nod he exited quickly from the room.

The interview ended … with frustration on one part, and anger on the other.

The interviewer made a promise to her viewers to speak to FBI Director Ted Prendergast.

He was assassinated by an unknown sniper before that interview could take place.

AUTHOR BIO:

Suzanne Burke lives, laughs, writes and enjoys her life in the beautiful harbor-side city of Sydney Australia.

She is a mother and grandmother, now in her sixties, and considers every moment of every day as a precious treasure to be valued and explored, and not simply endured.

Her non-fiction works are written under the pen-name of Stacey Danson.

They are both challenging and thought provoking works covering the earliest years of her life, the topic of child abuse and the PTSD that accompanied her into her later years are not, by virtue of their subject matter an easy or comfortable read, yet so many have read them. She will be forever grateful that her readers have assisted in raising the awareness into this painful and enduring evil.

An awareness that is vital in any efforts to stem this tide of inhuman acts perpetrated on the most innocent of us all … the children.
